During our first gathering of the year, we shared with one another areas in our lives in which we desire a higher level of freedom and have committed to keeping one another accountable throughout the year.
Freedom doesn’t come naturally. It needs to be fought for. It doesn’t come by running away from problems. Freedom comes when we choose to fix the problems in our lives. That often require us to face our fears and do things that may make us uncomfortable.
At this support group, we fight for freedom together as an army of warriors. Warriors do not fight alone.
To have a good start to 2019, I also shared about having a powerful mindset; changing from a powerless person to a powerful one.
A powerful person takes responsibility for her life and choices that she makes. She does not try to control other people but works to control herself and her responses regardless of how others treat her. A powerful person is one who understands the concept of boundaries and works at it to protect all her relationships.
Equipping ourselves with knowledge on how to manage relationships helps to change our mindsets and subsequently changes the way we live our lives. Powerful people take steps to ensure that 2019 will be a good year and do not leave it to chance.
Feedback from some of the participants:
“The session helped me to see a different perspective on the power of words. Being firm doesn’t necessarily mean being rude. It just means knowing what we want sometimes.”
“The session was good. I didn’t realise that many of us have problems communicating with our parents. It made me feel that I am not alone.”
In January, we also started the ‘Forgiven and Set Free’ post abortion healing program. If you’re hurting from abortion and would like to find out more about this program, feel free to reach out to us.
